“We’re all in the gutter but some of us are looking to the stars”
                                          Chapter Two
Everything was too hot; it felt as if my skin was being roasted. I tried to claw at whatever was constricting my body but it only tangled me more.  Franticly I clawed at the blanket as panic and fear ate at me. I need to get out, I need to get away.
Hands reached for me and I flinched away from them and blurrily saw the person reaching for me. I twisted and turned from this person and kicked at the covers that restricted my motion, took away my escape.

Another voice joined the other and I could tell one was female the other male. The hands went away but fear ate at me. Soft soothing sounds reached my ears and slowly I turned to see the person.

It was the man before that sat in front of me. He was making soothing motions to calm me down. Slowly the panic and fear left me only leaving me breathing quickly and still dying of heat. He picked up a rag and tapped his forehead with it and motioned to me. I nodded my understanding and stilled my body as he placed the warm wet rag on my forehead.
As I laid he fixed the blankets and spoke softly, a nice constant sound. He was fixing my pillow when another angry voice broke in stopping his soothing voice. He glared at the person behind him and I could see that they looked similar—must be brother and sister.

After a few moments the woman threw her hands up in the air and stomped away in an angry blur. The man sighed softly and shook his head he then gave me a small smile. I didn’t say anything and gladly sipped at the water he placed to my lips. After greedily drinking two cups of water he took it away and I smiled my thanks.
He patted my head gently and started to walk away, fear spiked as his form retreated and I reached out.

“Stay! Please.” I called out hoarsely and it sounded like I hadn’t spoke for a long while. He turned to look at me with confusion on his face, he didn’t understand.

“Mane, Placere.” I said softly again and reached out my hands to him. He came closer and I patted the spot beside the bed and spoke again.

“Mane.” Understanding dawned on his face and he nodded and sat beside me. His voice spoke up again softly keeping the silence at bay and for that I was thankful. After a while and my eyes started to drift close he reached out to snuff out the candle and fear clawed at me I quickly stopped his hand and shook my head.
He answered in his own language with confusion on his face and gently patted my hand; he nodded and leaned back down. He sung softly to the still air and I felt better as my eyes closed.

“Firelight will always lead you home.”
